Panels, Double, and Triple Stains

PANELS
Lung Panel (P40, TTF1 – Napsin A):   Used to differentiate between lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the lung.

DOUBLE STAINS
Pan Keratin – p63:  For evaluation of microinvasion in small breast biopsies

Cytokeratin 34β12 (K903) – Racemase (p504s):  For evaluation of small foci of invasive prostate carcinoma

P40 – Cytokeratin 5/6: For evaluation of lung SCC

TTF1 Brown – Napsin A:  For confirmation of glandular differentiation in small lung biopsies

TRIPLE STAINS
Racemase – p63 – Cytokeratin 34βE12 (K903) (Prostate):  For evaluation of small foci of invasive prostate carcinoma

p63 – Cytokeratin 5 – Cytokeratin 8/18 (Breast):  P63 labels the nuclei of myoepithelial cells.  Cytokeratin 5 is a high molecular weight cytokeratin which labels the cytoplasm of myoepithelial cells.  Cytokeratin 8/18 is a low molecular weight cytokeratin which stains the cytoplasm of all ductal or lobular epithelium.  Used together as a triple stain, they can differentiate between usual ductal hyperplasia  and atypical ductal hyperplasia, can distinguish ductal carcinoma in situ from microinvasive breast carcinoma, and can identify basal phenotypes
